The Museum will host art from students at Caneview K-8 from March 25th through April 3rd, 2022. Caneview participated in a grant hosted by the Manship Theatre in Baton Rouge. The grant allowed an artist, Jennifer Carwile, to go into classes for six weeks and infuse art into the class lessons. Carwile spent three weeks in science and social studies classes, followed by 3 weeks in math classes. Her math-art lessons reinforced geometry topics and culminated in students using one basic design iterated several times using only a compass and straightedge.
In January and February, 4th grade students at Caneview K-8 in West Baton Rouge Parish participated in an arts project funded by the Manship Theatre. The project promoted innovation and creativity and culminated in a viewing of a performance of Innovation Nation-Live! Local artist, Jennifer Carwile, worked with students, infusing art into the curriculum for science, social studies, and math. The beautiful art on display was created over three weeks in math class, under the guidance of Ms. Carwile, and using only a drawing compass, straight-edge, an eraser, and watercolors. This art is available for public viewing between Friday, March 25th and Sunday, April 3rd, with a reception on Friday, March 25th, from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM. Come out and meet some future artists!
